Melissa Vocelka, author of Oh Mighty Mississippi, was born and raised in rural Minnesota, where the beauty and serenity of the country never fail to inspire. Living and breathing to discover the power of words, writing has always been a part of her life.
Graduating with an Associate of Arts degree in 2010 from Rainy River Community College in International Falls, MN, Melissa furthered her education online, through Ashworth College, earning a diploma in professional writing for children.
Currently residing in Sturgeon Lake, MN, with her husband, John, and daughter, Rebekah, Melissa continues to write, inspired by the nature around her.
Aside from writing and reading, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, scrapbooking, baking, shopping, traveling, gardening, learning new things, and spending time outside.
